had a good afternoon in birmingham. the gadget show was vast and i saw some really good stuff. the yikebike was there as was a bunch of segways, some great wifi style indicators for a bike for £35 that i need to get - go on the front and the back (led powered) - some fantastic media player boxes from sumvision that play absolutely anything. just loads of good tech. i'll be publishing all the vimeo clips i shot as well on the canon ixus 200 at some point and a post about incar wifi when i get around to it! :)

the gadget show @ thenec birmingham

literally at the last minute I was offered some tickets to go to the gadget show over at the nec in birmingham yesterday.

been a while since I have been over to anything at the nec, I'm expecting to have to sift through the rubbish of naff plastic injection moulded ideas and get to the good stuff - hoping they have some neat electronics to play with! ;)

more of an update later...

nokia loopback @ bridgewater school

nokia_loopback_bridgewater_sch.zip (377 KB)

so i'm currently sitting on an over populated train on the way back from a training session we did with six pupils (14+) at bridgewater school today.

I was training the pupils about the nokia n85 and showing them applications and packages they can use on the phone to make media rather than just the usual photos and video functionality.

I showed them bambuser and discussed using the ovi site for storing content from the phone. showing them how to install it on the phone.

a good day, hope the kids got something cool out of it.

audiogravity catchup in-progress - draft blog posts done.

As you can see from the image i have put all the blog posts for the month of oct 25th > nov 25th (2009) together in draft format in gmail ready to post as and when i do each audio recording, i have also saved the sessions for each in firefox ready to go and record. should be quite a test of audioboo latest beta in offline mode to see if it can handle that many offline recordings. i need to make some room on the device however before i do so. need to unselect some stuff off before i do it. I would use the web interface but that doesn't have stacking (yet?) and i would rather do them all in one go on the iphone.

Then i have another month to work on after that and then try and finally catchup into this year. Sorry for the delay but i have had some other life issues to get resolved. Once i get caught up with the jan 2010 stuff i'll start work on the micropayments module for donations and back to rezpondr/doorstepr stuff. In the meantime i'm still working on my master posterous template for all my other projects. It's coming. .. .

a trip over to biocity nottingham to talk social media

I was having a good old nose through the media booklet in the reception about the biocity group of companies within and it made very interesting reading. It is ultra close to the train station and only takes a five minute or so walk to get to it. I ran through a few of the projects i'm involved in and we talked about social media for an hour or so.

I had an ultra strong black coffee that did the trick also. I must had that the 9 megabit down and 7 megabit up internet connection was nice too. Rapid media distribution and uploading with that would not be a problem.

Social Media for the Public Sector with the ammoboxproject

I forgot to post these images that were sitting on my memory card so finally today i got around to doing it (actually boxing day) but i have put the date back on the entry by posting these as a private entry - gotta love posterous for that. It was a really good day at the east midlands conference centre and it was great to work alongside @pcmcreative 'cj' caron lyons on the project for the day. the internet connection was smoking fast and the recording and day went fantastic. I really enjoyed myself.

ammoboxproject slow to start but bubbling up

quick link | http://ammoboxproject.com

From a quick start to get going to having little time to play with the box the ammoboxproject has been slow to start. even thou we had a few sponsors step up to the plate actually having the media pipeline ability to put content up and styled, presented in the way i wanted has been tough to get engaged with it. another thing holding me back is that my provider of that site which is in the rackspacecloud is $100 a month - the server i want to move the clients over too but cannot just yet until my work situation picks up.

regardless, i have been thinking about a smaller ammobox for the bandwidthinabox side project and i'm going to be doing a mockup in photoshop later about how i think it will look with the hole in the box for the aerials. i'm on a search for a suitable, fast mini atx system that can run the zeroshell software and has 4+ usb ports on usb2 and can run on the least power as possible. my ideal will be something below 20W for the actual PC but i need to be careful of the drain from four or more usb devices attached to this. then i have to think about wiring for the external aerials etc etc. i'm hoping that playing with this will kickstart the ammoboxproject back up again.

Sorry it is taking so long. We have had some interest in the boxes and sponsoring but we really need to do some test examples of the kit being on site and recording some HD tutorial videos of me with each piece of kit. Not having a fully working HD camera has been difficult ever since the tape mechanism was broken on my trip to dubai with the nokia eurorush tour.

Lots of great things, lots of fighting to make them happen. I never give up. ever.
