it's the simple things in life.

good chat, good coffee and freshly cooked different foods daily bonding people together from the locality around open conversations -- a decent cafe space in sneinton finally (now with wifi!)

i found out about the secret cafe through cj (@pcmcreative) about a month ago as we went along on friday evening to show our support, record some interviews and take a few photos.

fast forward a month and last week i just finally got around to installing the phs300 cradlepoint wireless router in (as part of my community project that i never started a year ago) -- see the blog post after this one for more on that.

with mifi up and running i spent a few days there last week for lunch and had some great soups, salad and tartlets but more so conversation. it was great to hear people being upbeat and realistic about the near future.

doing something to change their current course in life, inspiring through doing with a can do attitude towards running a space to serve people a meal for a reasonable cost -- we even had some dropped off to us on friday which was awesome after a few pints at antenna.

you can find the sneinton secret kitchen down trent road near the st christopher church (it's next door) you can't miss the sign really on the railings.

the space runs from wednesday to friday from 9:30am (i think) till 2:30pm (might be 10:30 i forget) and food is normally ready around 11:30 ish for those looking to just drop by to see what's on that day.

i'm really hoping that it goes from strength to strength there and that more non-profit ideas and services come together there for the whole of the community.

well that hit me like a ton of lead.

it's november then, that illusion month that stalks you like a rabid david blaine of mystery that vanishes quicker than the thirty days it had planned.  everyone is rolling out videos, supposed thirty seconds but i kinda missed the mark on that one.  i'll try to do better, i promise -- expect random thoughts and true videoblogger spirit(s)

and i thought i was going to have a css/html kind of month.

lovely to see you all again.  go go, search out the mystical #vlomo11 over there and over here too -- people actually making video with a camera, finally we all remember why we bought the thing in the first place.

i feel this november may become rather twisted.

the guy in the photo is 'australia' phil to me.

the nation, his country delivered in a single moment shared together with no former background, story or verbage.  a similar soul only from name in a location with the same name working together with his fellow men and women of the same name from other locations around the world - not prying, questioning or judgement.  just here, now and in the same time and space.  together, doing the right thing.

i'm holding onto the moment, indexing it under 'what good feels like' and 'understanding empathy' and taking the social media brand ambassdor term to a whole new level.  what i met here were human ambassdors sub conciously delivering kindness, caring and reconnecting them to the world they once knew before the tornado ripped through their town on the 27th of April 2011

we had come from far and wide with a willingness to help in whatever way we knew best, to show the folk of phil campbell that the world could see them, that they were heard, that when the chips are down and that when people need help that we come together and do what feels right to do stripping away the world and it's system we exist within.

we became the real world p2p network.  a person to person network, exchanging sentiment and caring and rebooting thoughts that the world outside of their own was there with them too.  that if it was us we hoped someone too would step up to the plate and assist our fellow friends.

never in my life have i felt so much compassion, open-hearted response to a situation with wide eyed shocked excitement across so many faces in such a small place have so much meaning than anything normally we are led to believe about the nature of human beings.  it fired me up, anew and fresh to possibilites we have in this world as a team of twenty people for the cause and effect of our actions.  

our technology and tools we take for granted on a day to day basis have the ability to schedule, arrange and engage with our fellow men and woman of the world, they are simply a conduit in which we can organize better, these tools allow deeper conversation if only we let it - if we strip away the brands, the name and the devices and allow them to be the heavy lifters of our hopes and dreams.

you can make a huge different to your life, the lifes of others and indirectly the world.  you can be both the wind, air, earth and fire of this planet and in an organized balance spread our passion for living across the plains of this planet.  live above and between the wires of the world, travel and engage and tell your story and be willing to listen to others.  

start writing memories today.  engage with life. ...

got an overwhelming sense of time at the moment about everything. lots of factors as per usual - wanting to get progress and moving things forward is something that i always subscribe.

it's been hard doing things on a budget of next to nothing thou when you still have expenses like trains, food and rent (when i can afford to pay it) for crashing at peoples pads. it's always on my mind.

last night i had a bunch of terrible dreams, all scenes of some horror flick, my imagination is scary at the best of times but last night was extremely fragmented. i'm pretty whacked today. i need to eat lots of greens or mainline coffee.

i actually feel like i'm starting to turn to a fitness kick again, biking and cutting out coffee and reducing the amount of dairy i consume. less fried breakfast. i need the energy to be focused into being able to switch into these three projects that are taking shape finally now.

after getting the profit and loss sorted out about the rattlr/nomadjackets last week makes me see a business there and having alex (@aloox2) in the studio a few days in the evening to bounce ideas of over a few beers after was cool too.

i think with the phil campbell events in alabama with at least 25 people dying it kind of puts everything back into perspective.

i was only joking to friends that maybe the convention was to get all phil campbells together to take them out in one go. i sorta feel bad for even thinking that now. life can change in a glance - in fact in the last three years mine has.

it can be hard to keep focus and passion about the things that you think are the right things to do when everything around you seems to change so quickly.

i'm about to pick my bella up - she will be 4 in may (24th) and it scares me how fast that came around. i feel i have to pick up the pace, she starts school in september and i want to be able to pick her up from the gates like any parent would want too.

i want my ark project started, we have a potential start of the £10k we need to find the other £15k now - had a few people putting forward about car sharing as well which is epic.

i find that swapping different projects - design, infrastructure, networking and ultimately money to maintain these things can be a lot of switching and sometimes it can be overwhelming.

but not today, today is ella and daddy day. thanks for listening interwebz.

it's not that i'm not proud to be british it's just that sometimes i'm not proud of the british. maybe it's just a negative reaction to living here so long - i always feel more relaxed when travelling. i know we should celebrate heritage. let's hope it brings a much needed cash injection into the country again, after all we really need a lift.

heading to see the management team today about the ark project and kristina is with me with the model ark so they can get a decent look at it and we can get some photos around it for a blog entry and the next promotional push.
